Rita Fonseca is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering, who started the scholarship in 2017. The aim of her PhD project is to develop a new generation of highly stretchable and tough hydrogels, in which network disruption can be triggered remotely using cytocompatible light wavelengths to allow a fine, spatial and temporal control over the degradation.
